This post is going to be brief.
There was an explosion at the Boston Marathon today. Around 4 p.m. two bombs went off near the finish line, killing two people and leaving dozens wounded. This is a disgrace.
World sporting events such as the Boston Marathon often act as symbols of international cooperation. Politics are left at the starting line as athletes race in healthy competition, each pushing the other to go farther and try harder.
The thought that anyone would find this threatening is unreal.
As a former sports editor, and someone who has personally gotten to know quite a number of talented runners, my heart goes out to Boston and the international athletic community.
